Have you ever sat in front of your computer, headphones on and Alicia Keys blasting at full volume as you hear her sing ‘This Girl is on Fire’. You’re so ready to do some amazing work in your business. Fingertips on keyboard, inner passion fully amplified, excitement reverberating from within… Then a few minutes go by, minutes turn into hours,  and suddenly you find yourself scrolling through Facebook instead of working because you’ve  realized that you’ve got absolutely no idea what you should be doing to get your next client?

At this point you realize that you’ve wasted all the time you had to work in your business. Disappointment smacks you in the face and frustration comes into the picture.
All because of that one feeling  of ‘not knowing what step you should take next’.

Every business owner experiences it at some point and it can be extremely frustrating and detrimental. After all, it’s not like you don’t want to work and show up for your dreams, it’s just that you don’t know what to do.

This is EXACTLY why I wrote this blog post, to teach you exactly how to know what steps to take in your business when you’re feeling lost.

On top of what you may already know about having a solid strategy to follow in your business + a coach to help you carve that path and solidify the specific steps that you’ll be taking, there’s a tip that I give to all my clients when they’re feeling stuck and confused as to what they should be doing next.

The tip is simple, yet powerful.
The trick is to take inspired action.

You may be wondering what that actually means and it’s very simple…

Instead of overthinking what step you should be taking next, worrying that you’re not doing the perfect thing in a  perfect way, and procrastinating on doing something in your business because you’re waiting for someone to tell you exactly what to do… You take action that comes from inspiration.

This is one of the reasons why I preach about the importance of learning how to hone in to your intuition, because the more that you can listen to the whispers of your soul, the more that you’ll be able to gain inspiration from within and follow that into your desired results (vs. waiting for an unrealistic perfect step).

Let’s say you wake up and you have a thought of starting your own profitable Facebook group…. You don’t overthink that, you just follow that inspiration and you take the best next step to make that happen. Perhaps you just have to open Facebook and click on ‘Start a Group’ or maybe you purchase the above mentioned mini course to help you do that step by step. It doesn’t matter, the point is that you had an inspired idea and you’re not overthinking it but instead following it by taking tiny steps towards it.

I told you it was a simple concept.

Here’s the thing though, in order to be able to hear those inspired ideas, you have to create space for silence, self-care, and going within. Inspired ideas don’t usually reach you when you’re sitting in front of your computer frustrated at your lack of growth. Inspired ideas typically come to you when you’re meditating, walking, taking a bubble bath, or doing something super fun that takes the pressure out of business.

So if I was to tell you 3 steps to know what steps to take in your business when you’re feeling lost, it would look like this:

  1.  Make space for silence, self-care, and/or fun
  2.  Listen for that inspired next step and trust yourself enough to know that whatever inspiration you get is exactly what you should be doing
  3. Start taking small actions towards that inspired idea without overthinking or doubting your decision

Not only does taking inspired action help take more action, but it also helps you build your intuition and self-trust  muscle more. Which if you’re committed to building a business long-term, are one of the best tools you will always need.
