After being a business and confidence coach for 6+ years I have seen many coaches start businesses from absolute nothing and turn them into wildly profitable and fulfilling empires. While I know deep in my bones that no business is created equal, I also know that there are common threads that most successful coaches bring into their business in order to build long lasting success.
While all my clients have different niches, business models, sales process, marketing strategies, income goals, budgets, etc… They all have these 3 things in their business that makes them a long-lasting (and confident) money-making machine.
1. A deep BELIEF that they are worthy and capable of succeeding in their coaching business no matter what
If you know me, you know I’m always going to start with the internal piece because it is the foundation for every dollar that you make as a coach. If you’ve been struggling for a while to make the money that you desire as a coach this is where I urge you to start. If you take an inventory of your thoughts and beliefs you’ll probably find that they are either accelerating your success, stalling it, or completely killing it. If you don’t believe that success is possible for you, then it’s not. Let me just say though that this doesn’t mean that you won’t ever feel doubt, fear, or insecurity. It also doesn’t mean that you won’t ever feel negative emotions or go through a potential rough patch as a business owner. It simply means that deep in your bones, you know that success is yours. No matter how long it takes and no matter how hard it gets. If you’re going to take something from today’s blog post, take this, because this is truly the common thread that separates coaches who are kicking ass and the ones who stay stuck for longer than what they want.
2. An offer that people ACTUALLY want to buy
Creating an irresistible offer is so much more important than what most people give it credit for. Think about it, every coach has an offer so it’s your duty to make sure that your offer not only sets you apart but it’s exactly what your potential clients want AND need. A good offer will have a great name, incredible features, and clear results/transformation. This may take some testing and tweaking as you understand your audience and their needs but focusing on creating a program that people actually want to buy is a big component to success.
3. A simple, deep, and EFFECTIVE marketing plan
Now we’re getting to the strategic side of things because you can’t have one without the other. I don’t care how intuitive you are or how confident you feel, because while these things are extremely important (and in my opinion non-negotiable), they are not everything. You still need to market your business like a true-bred CEO. All my clients who are consistently reaching new income goals have become pros at marketing themselves over and over again. The thing that most new coaches get wrong is trying to market themselves through a very complicated, overwhelming, and ineffective marketing strategy. For example, trying to be on every social media platform is not a wise way to market yourself when you first start out on your own because time is limited. A more effective (and consistent) way of marketing yourself is to go all in with one platform and get really freaking good at getting clients from that.
So now that you know the 3 things I know every successful coach has in their business, which one are YOU going to focus on so that you can create your own success?
